Realskies Web Design has partnered with the Nikki St Germain
Memorial Golf Tournament to raise money for Voices for Children,
a nonprofit organization dedicated to ensuring that abused,
neglected, and abandoned children in San Diego County will have
a safe and permanent home.
Nikki St Germain was a local San Diegan with a strong passion for helping those less fortunate than herself. She rose to the rank of Vice President of Voices for Children before being diagnosed with Pancreatic cancer in 2004 and passing on Mother's Day 2005. The two most important things in Nikki's life were family and giving back to the community. She was especially passionate about giving back to kids burdened with challenges and lack of opportunity. She would be extremely proud and pleased to know that her family has chosen to keep her memory alive through this golf tournament as they continue to make a difference in the lives of San Diego children. Typically, the inquiries are about incorporating animation or a client’s favorite music piece into their web presentation. Most often, neither the music nor the animation has much to do with the purpose of the site. Even worse, these embellishments usually do little to move the selling proposition forward and contribute nothing to eliciting the desired response from prospects. Instead, they stall website loading time and lead to frustration and, in effect, high abandonment rates by users.Almost universally, incorporating animation or music on a website is counter-productive to moving the selling proposition of your business forward. Just because you can do something does not mean that you should, especially if it does not contribute to producing the response that you desire from visitors. The owners of Ocean Palms Beach Resort had recently acquired a 50 room beachside hotel in Carlsbad, California, that they were extensively renovating. Their old website did not present resort improvements to best advantage, and staff was spending most of their time describing the 16 distinct guest suite accommodations to callers. Owners, Barry and Terry Blue, needed a new website to showcase their newly renovated luxury accommodations. They also wanted to free hotel desk staff from the task of describing room amenities to allow them more time to book reservations.
The website we created for Ocean Palms Beach Resort is a good example of what sets Realskies apart from other web design companies. In collaboration with the client, we designed their new website around Ocean Palms’ unique selling proposition: A location “just steps from the beach” in the heart of Carlsbad Village. This selling proposition became the central theme that permeated every aspect of Ocean Palms’ web presence.
